Wheel Alignment After Hitting A Pothole

It’s peak pot hole season here in Dayton – these late winter/early spring freezes and thaws can wreak havoc on the roads, and that spells bad news for drivers. Hitting a bad pothole is one of the quickest ways to throw your car’s front wheels out of alignment, and driving over holed-up roads day after day can do the same kind of damage over time. Fortunately, our service center’s February front end alignment special is still valid through the end of the week! If you hit a pothole and notice that something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait – print out that coupon and bring your vehicle in now!

When Do You Need A Wheel Alignment Service?

How do you know if you need a wheel alignment after hitting a pothole? Here’s the warning signs to look out for:

  • Your car slowly drifts to the right or left when you let go of the steering wheel.
  • You find yourself having to hold the steering wheel slightly off-center to point the wheels straight ahead.
  • Your tires are wearing unevenly – the tread on one side of the tire is much lower than the other. Bad alignment will make your tires wear out much faster than they should.

  1. My wife recently hit a pothole and popped one of her front tires, since we’ve had the wheel replaced, it hasn’t been driving the same. I liked that you had mentioned that having bad alignment can make one tire wear out faster than the others. While I’ve been kind of ignoring the problem I think I might have to look for a professional to fix the alignment because I don’t want to have to buy all new tires.

  2. David King says:

You may not notice at once. Whenever you get behind the wheel of your car more and more, you will be able to start notice that something is not right. You’re drifting in one direction or another, the steering is off or the angle of the wheel is misaligned. And if your car drifts to one side and you have to turn the steering wheel away from the center position to avoid deviation off on an angle, that is the sure most indication that your car need an wheel alignment. 3. I noticed that my tires aren’t balanced ever since I accidentally hit a huge hole whilst driving. That’s why I’m currently looking for an auto service that specializes in wheel alignment. I’m glad you shared this because I never knew that when the vehicle slowly drifts to right or left, it means that my wheels aren’t in good condition.
