2014 Honda Civic Dayton OH

When people think of Honda, they see a big Japanese company known for quality, safe cars that are the definition of utility, comfort, and reliability. Sure, Honda makes many, many things other than cars. Jets, engines, motorcycles, and race cars are all part of the very multi-faceted company. And while all these things push boundaries, its usually speed, or how many family friendly features can they get into the 2014 Honda Odyssey. All these things spring to mind when one thinks of the 2014 Honda Civic in Dayton, OH.

But Honda has taken a decidedly left turn for their new Civic. The Honda Civic Type-R may never see American soil, much less American roads, but with the wonders of the internet, we can see exactly how Honda is trying to sell their first hot-hatchback, an attempt to compete with the many European vehicles that currently dominate that market overseas.

The commercial is…odd to say the least. Which, in theory, makes sense, as much as anything from this video makes sense. The Type-R is a radical venture into the wilderness of furious little power vehicles for Honda. Packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder capable of cranking out an estimated 280 horsepower, the Type-R would be a monster. Which is why Honda is marketing it as such. This strange overpowered creature gets a strange overpowered commercial that hints at the Nurburgring track, a famous and dangerous German track where many of Europe’s top vehicles get tested.

Of course, America wants this beast of a car, so a petiton on change.org has been started to convince Honda that the market would be receptive to the Type-R. At the time of this post, it has over 16,000 signatures, sure to get Honda’s attention, and see if we can’t get the Type-R added to the 2014 Honda Civic in Dayton, OH family.
