How to keep that new car smell for longer

We all love that new car smell. It’s one of our favorite things about being in a new vehicle! Unfortunately, that new car smell does tend to wear off as time goes on, but what if there was a way to keep that divine smell in your car for longer? Our team at Matt Castrucci Honda is prepared to give up one of our biggest secrets: how to keep your car smelling like you just drove off the dealership lot. Read on for details!

3 ways to keep your car smelling new

  1. Keep it clean

If your car starts looking more like a dumpster on wheels and less like an automobile, you’re probably going to lose that new car smell pretty quickly. Make sure you throw out trash as soon as you can to avoid unpleasant odors, and in the same vein, smoking in your car will quickly replace the new car smell with a much more stinky aroma.

  1. Consider buying an air freshener

Unfortunately, that new car smell will wear out over time regardless of how clean you keep your interior. One way to get that smell back, however, is by purchasing an air freshener. We suggest buying a scent that neutralizes odors rather than covers them up, and you can always buy the “New Car” air freshener if you’re desperate to get that infectious aroma back.

  1. Detail the interior

Whether you choose to pay someone to detail your interior or keep those pretty pennies in your pocket by doing it yourself, detailing your car will help keep the vehicle smelling fresh for longer. Our team recommends using a steamer to freshen the fabric, applying an upholstery cleaner to remove dust, and vacuuming inside to grab any crumbs or dirt.

It’s the first time that I will be having my own car next month. I plan to buy fresheners for it to keep it smelling fresh since I am really sensitive when it comes to bad odor. Thanks for helping me understand that I should make sure to buy an air freshener that will be able to neutralize the odor and not just cover it.

I have tried many new car fresheners and none work! Someone needs to come up with the exact smell! They could make a fortune! Unfortunately my new car smell is fading! Boo Hoo!

  3. OH, and of course some New Car Smell air freshener! Choose a warm day to clean out your vehicle. Toss out the garbage and vacuum thoroughly. Grab the Armor-All Car Wipes and go to town on your dash, steering wheel, interior doors and any other surface that you can use the wipes on.
