Automakers all around the world have been putting their best efforts into developing technology that will keep drivers and passengers in their vehicles as safe as possible. One technology we are seriously impressed with at Matt Castrucci Honda is Honda’s Collision Mitigation Braking System™. The system is designed to both prevent accidents from occurring and to mitigate effects of an accident if the accident is unavoidable, but how does it work?

Honda’s Collision Mitigation Braking System™
The Collision Mitigation Braking System™ uses a front grille-mounted millimeter wave radar and a rearview mirror-mounted camera to keep an eye on what’s happening directly in front of your vehicle. If the system detects a collision is possible, the driver will be alerted using visual and audio cues. If the driver takes no corrective action and the risk of accident continues, the driver will again be alerted with visual and audio alerts. The system will automatically apply a light braking at this point as well to help avoid an accident from occurring. If system then determines that a collision is imminent and the driver has taken no corrective action, the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ will apply forceful braking to lower the impact of the collision.
